RESPONDING TO YOUNG CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS

Shanti George

Can young children’s developmental difficulties be addressed early on, sensitively and in their everyday environments, with the support of their parents and educators?

The Neuro-Developmental-Functional Approach answers this question affirmatively, and has been developed by the Centre for Advancement of Functioning Capacities.

In the folder are some evaluations of the Centre’s Programme for young children, all of which are very favourable.

Rami Katz, director of the Centre and who will present the approach this afternoon, has been Chair of the Developmental Psychology section of the Israel Psychological Association and member of the Educational Planning Committee for disadvantaged children established by the Education Ministry.

Josie Mendelson’s qualifications are in early childhood education, special education and group coordination. At present she is co-director of Hand-in-Hand, the Centre for Jewish Arab Education in Israel.

In her earlier capacity as Director of Early Childhood Education for the City of Jerusalem, she introduced BvLF to the Neuro -Developmental-Functional Approach.
